Women & Men’s Pelvic Health

Women's and Men's Pelvic Health, also known as pelvic health physiotherapy, is a specialised area of physiotherapy that focuses on the assessment and treatment of conditions related to the pelvic floor and surrounding structures for both men and women. It addresses a wide range of issues, including bladder and bowel dysfunction, pelvic pain and pregnancy-related problems.  

Conditions treated include:


 Urinary frequency/urgency
 Bladder incontinence
 Bowel incontinence
 Pelvic organ prolapse
 Pelvic pain syndromes eg Vaginismus/vulvodynia/chronic pelvic pain
 Pelvic floor weakness after birth/menopause/surgery


A treatment session includes a detailed assessment which may include a vaginal/ano-rectal examination if indicated.

  • AMaire qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1988 and has specialised in Women’s and Men’s Pelvic Health for over 30 years, working across both the NHS and the private sector.

    Each treatment session begins with a detailed assessment, which may include a vaginal or ano-rectal examination when appropriate. This thorough approach ensures that care is tailored to each person’s needs, allowing for effective and compassionate treatment.
