Person Centred Counselling

Counselling gives you the opportunity to talk with a trained professional about any difficulties you may be experiencing: these may relate to personal relationships, work related issues or unexpected life events.

Taking the first step to seek counselling may seem quite daunting and I appreciate how difficult this can be. When you make that decision I would like to work with you so that you can make the changes you need to live a fuller life. I will listen to what is important to you and not judge the choices you have made: I will help you to identify the underlying cause of your concerns.

What is Person-Centred Counselling?

At the heart of Person-Centred Counselling is the working relationship between the client and counsellor, which is most effective when based on openness, mutual respect and trust. I treat all information as confidential working within the guidelines of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

As a Person-Centred counsellor I will try to understand how you are thinking and feeling: how you experience your world. I believe every person has the ability to decide for themselves what is exactly right for them, so rather than tell you what to do I will help you gain a perspective about whatever is troubling you and identify what is stopping you reaching your full potential.

My aim is to provide personal and professional counselling, which I believe will deepen your understanding of yourself and your situation so that you are able to make confident decisions based on the choices available to you.

Further Information on Person Centred Counselling in Southend

Our first session is an opportunity for us to see how we can work together and how your needs may be met through counselling. Each counselling session will last for 50 minutes. The number of sessions you have will be determined by you, depending on your personal issues: you may find a few sessions meet your needs or that longer term therapy is necessary to resolve your difficulties.

The way in which I work is sensitive to the cultural and ethnic origins of individuals and to peoples’ religious beliefs and sexual orientation.
