Yoga & Sleep
Whilst our physical bodies need time to digest food to rest and repair themselves, our minds need time to digest information and experiences. With sleep deficit affecting our everyday physical and cognitive functioning, as well as being linked to many health issues such as high blood pressure, heart disease, depression, anxiety, etc, good quality sleep is essential to boost immune systems and improve mental well being. So whether you fall asleep with exhaustion as soon as your head touches the pillow, struggle to get to sleep, wake during the night or fail to wake up feeling rested, you can take advantage of the benefits offered by a yoga practice of simple postures, breath work, and appropriate affirmations, along with meditation and Yoga Nidra. For a practical approach, learn how to ease yourself through a gradual relaxation process allowing the parasympathetic nervous system to guide the body and mind to a place of rest and calm. Please join Sam Maguire of Sammati Yoga on Tuesdays at 8pm here at Therapy Life Centre Southend.
