Vanessa Franklin

Vanessa Franklin, Massage

I have been working in the beauty, massage and spa industry for over 20 years, both in the UK and overseas.

From a young age I have been fascinated by how the human body works which led me to pursue a career in beauty therapy.  Here I gained qualifications at the respected Steiner Beauty School, in the heart of London’s West End and graduated with both CIBTAC and CIDESCO diplomas.

Within the early part of my career, I found massage was my strength and gained further qualifications in Sports Massage and Aromatherapy (IFA approved).  After working in various salons, I opened and successfully managed my own Salon for six years specialising in massage and spa treatments.

Having discovered first hand there was a demand for well trained therapy staff I started teaching on variety of massage and beauty courses.  In 1999, I was recruited as the first training manager for the prestigious Raffles Hotel, Amrita Spa in Singapore. Here I was able to combine my therapy skills and teaching expertise to design signature treatments exclusive to Amrita Spa, developing the skills of over 25 therapists as well as my own by learning some of the Asian massage therapies.

On returning from Singapore, I continued to build on my existing client-base by fusing my classical training with the techniques I’d acquired from overseas, to offer a truly unique massage experience.

I believe this constant reinvention and blending of old and new treatments, has allowed me to maintain a reliable base of private clients in the South East Essex area. I’m proud to say, some of which have remained with me for over 20 years.

On the Sports massage side, I worked very successfully with the Southend United Football Team’s medical staff providing massage services to the First Team for 5 years, including the double-promotion years of 2005 to 2007.  During this time I was delighted to receive a reference from the Southend manager.  This experience mirrors the type of therapies and holistic approach we offer here at the Therapy Life Centre.

To develop my knowledge and experience further I have embraced the opportunity to work within sports education with professional football and basketball teams.  For the last 5 years I have worked both as course assessor and external examination moderator for National Governing bodies in Sport and Massage sectors.

All the time, I have remained grounded in massage focusing on Sports Massage, Aromatherapy, Remedial, Swedish and various Asian massage techniques.  (live links)

I understand the need to continually develop my skills as a therapist to feed my own thirst for knowledge but ultimately provide the best experience and results to you, my patients.  The Therapy Life Centre offers me a great opportunity to engage with other talented, well-being professionals, and together we can offer a truly holistic service.
