What is Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)?
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a simple and straightforward educational technique for anyone who wishes to discover themselves and develop as a person or as a leader and be the best that they can be in all that they do. It seeks to educate people in self-awareness, successful and effective communication and to change their patterns of mental and emotional behaviour consciously and subconsciously. NLP is the key to mastering your own brain. It is the analysis of human excellence, the difference between someone who is merely competent in life and someone who excels in life. NLP is the study and application of thinking, language and behaviour and can re-code habitual behaviour and childhood programming.
Neuro – the neurological process where information is gathered and sent to the nervous system via the five senses.
Linguistic – the language and other non-verbal communication through which the “neuro” is processed, coded, ordered and given meaning to.
Programming – the result of the learned behavioural patterns from experiences. If we can learn these, then we can choose to unlearn any negative aspects of our programming.
How will NLP techniques help me?
NLP encompasses many positive and varied applications in all areas of life, including problem resolutions, creative solutions and goal achievement. NLP will help you understand your problems, transform them and move you on past them. The resources needed in order to affect a change are already within us all.
Is NLP compatible with other types of therapies?
Yes. NLP is a great addition to any therapeutic plan or regime and is especially well suited with Thought Field Therapy (TFT) and Hypnotherapy, but also functions extremely well as a standalone treatment too.
What happens during a session with an NLP practitioner?
Together the NLP consultant and client explore and discover what is desired and how to make those changes occur. We then identify the details of the changes you wish to make through your thought process, your self-beliefs, your senses and your ever active self talk. As each person has their own unique set of experiences and thinking patterns, each confidential session will be uniquely tailored to address your specific challenges and outcomes using NLP processes and language patterns, collapsing and deactivating the problem areas and re-programming desirable new ways to think and be.
What if the problem comes back?
Occasionally, a problem that has been cured successfully due to treatment can recur. If this should happen call your consultant. Not only will they be able to successfully and quickly treat the problem again, but will also be able to help in determining why it returned. Once the reason has been determined, it is often a simple matter to set the desired new patterns again
Is NLP safe?
Yes, absolutely! In the hands of a fully trained and competent consultant, NLP is safe, respectful and caring of individual needs and circumstances. NLP offers an environment for effective and profound change, giving you choice; the choice to accept your current behaviour or learn to understand and remove self-imposed limiting beliefs.
How do I know that my therapist is qualified to use NLP with me?
Do I need to believe for it to work?
No. But you do need to want to change and be committed to these changes for it to work fully. You can expect 100% undivided attention and positive intention from your consultant, who will help and guide you through the process, encouraging your full participation. If you believe that a consultant will ‘wave their magic wand’ with little or no effort on your part then your results will reflect this. You must be fully committed and motivated to want to change.

Sessions last up to an hour and a half (90mins) and your investment is £88. Most clients only need between 1 – 5 sessions depending on their troubles and number of issues. Sessions are run on Friday afternoons 1.30-5.30pm . If you are unable to visit during these times please call me to arrange a more suitable time for you, myself and the Therapy Life Centre.
