Yin Yoga and Zen Mindfulness Meditation teacher. Personal Trainer and
Trainee Yoga Therapist for Mental Health
I discovered Yin Yoga when I was living in Edmonton, Canada and I fell in love with the practice. I found it accessed my body in a way that was deeply nourishing, stilled my mind to a profound degree and helped me deeply listen to my body.
I have trained with the two main proponents of Yin Yoga: Paul Grilley and Sarah Powers. I flew to Chicago to study anatomy, physiology and Yin Yoga with Paul Grilley. Later I did a teacher training with Sarah Powers in London combining Yin Yoga, mindfulness, Taoist and Buddhist philosophy with meridian theory in Insight Yoga.
I began teaching in Edmonton at the Yoga Loft and in a treatment centre for women suffering with eating disorders.
After I settled back in the UK in December 2008 I started teaching at Shambhala Studios in Leigh, at Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre, David Lloyd Southend and I am very excited about bringing Yin to The Therapy Life Centre. I am currently the only teacher who teaches purely Yin Yoga in Essex and I would love to share the practice with you!
Alongside teaching Yin Yoga, I teach Zen Mindfulness and Meditation. I am a personal trainer and a trainee Yoga Therapist for Mental Health studying with Yoga for the Mind and am due to qualify in November 2012.
I am also a springboard and highboard diver and follow Thich Nhat Hanh’s Buddhist tradition.
